“In the wake of the recent violence around the country and right here in the streets of Central New York, we needed to strengthen our current gun laws by closing loopholes, addressing mental-health issues and protecting the lives of our first responders and loved ones.
“Upholding the Second Amendment and protecting the rights of gun owners is very important. However, at this time we need to focus on protecting the lives of our families and first responders, who put their lives on the line for us every day.”
