(Canastota, NY) The International Boxing Hall of Fame announced two-division world champion and noted trainer James “Buddy” McGirt will return to Canastota for festivities planned for the 24th Annual Hall of Fame Induction Weekend set for June 6 to 9, 2013.

“Buddy McGirt is a real fan favorite,” said Hall of Fame director Edward Brophy. “He graciously poses for pictures and really enjoys interacting with his fans. We are very excited to welcome him back to Canastota.”

Fighting out of Brentwood, NY, McGirt is the former IBF junior welterweight and WBC welterweight champion. He holds wins over Saoul Mamby, Frankie Warren, Howard Davis, Jr., Livingstone Bramble and Simon Brown. During his career, he posted a 73-6-1 (48 KOs) record. Now a highly respected trainer, he has worked with such fighters as 2013 Hall of Fame Inductee Arturo “Thunder” Gatti, Antonio Tarver, Nate Campbell, Matthew Macklin, and his son, James Jr.
