(Lafayette, NY – Feb. 2, 2013) At 1:59 a.m. Feb. 2 State Police in Lafayette responded to a serious personal injury accident on State Route 11 at Moltion Road in the Town of Lafayette.
The investigation revealed that a 2004 Dodge pick-up truck, driven by Mitchell C. Sofranko, age 22, was travelling northbound on SR 11. A NYS DOT dump truck/snowplow, operated by Michael C. Andrews, age 60, was turning south from Moltion Road onto SR 11 when both vehicles collided head on in the middle of State Route 11.
Mitchell C. Sofranko, from 3098 Sentinel Heights Road, Lafayette and front seat passenger Brian T. Allen, age 25, were transported to Upstate University Hospital in Syracuse where Sofranko was treated and released. Allen was admitted with a possible hip fracture.
Michael C. Andrews,of 7741 US Route 20, Fabius was also transported to Upstate with neck pain and released.
Sofranko was arrested for DWI and was issued a ticket for speed not reasonable and prudent.
Andrews was issued a ticket for failed to yield right of way entering a roadway.
