(Utica, NY – Feb. 2013) The public is invited to the Utica Public Library on Genesee Street on Saturday, Feb. 9, to meet a local minister who has lectured and written about the power of renewing the human person.

The Rev. Dr. Mary J. Webster, pastor of New Hartford’s First Baptist Church, will be doing a book signing from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. for her book, “The Human Condition: How to Begin Again.”

The book includes a series of essays “that speak to us personally on how we can change and improve our human condition,” Rev. Dr. Webster said. She uses the Bible and her experiences as an ordained minister and certified substance-abuse counselor to bring home the message — “We can begin again. We can pick up the pieces and become whole.” Throughout the book, Rev. Dr. Webster offers practical advice on how to confront issues that plague the human condition and how to reach the ultimate goal — healing.

Rev. Dr. Webster, known to her congregation as Pastor Mary, has been the full-time minister at First Baptist since 2006. A graduate of Mohawk Valley Community College and SUNYIT Utica-Rome, she earned her Master of Divinity at Colgate Rochester Crozer Divinity School in Rochester, NY, and her Doctorate in Theology from Life Christian University in Tampa, FL.
