(Syracuse, NY – Feb. 2013) Three paddlesports safety presentations have been added to the in-water demonstrations at the Feb. 13-17 Central New York Boat Show at the NYS Fairgrounds.
New York Sea Grant and the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary will present the paddlesports safety demonstrations on Saturday, Feb. 16 at 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. and Sunday, Feb. 17 at 2 p.m. The demonstrations will include information on required and recommended safety gear and precautions, including the use of life jackets for canoeists, kayakers, boaters and others who enjoy water sports.
In-pool demonstrations of the different types of personal floatation devices (PFD) will take place at the show on Thursday, Feb. 14 and Friday, Feb. 15 at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 16 at noon and 4 p.m. and on Sunday, Feb. 17 at noon and 3 p.m.
Those attending the in-water demonstrations can register for the opportunity to win a Shoremaster Navigator Kayak, a Full Throttle Type III Inflatable Life Vest, or a free adult Boating Safety Certification class with the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary.
Admission to the show is $10/person; children 13 and younger free.
Parking and shuttles are free.
