(New Berlin, NY – Feb. 2013) Preferred Mutual Insurance Company received two awards from the Independent Insurance Agents and Brokers of New York Inc. (IIABNY) at the IIABNY’s Capitol Day Dinner Awards on Jan. 29 in Albany.

Preferred Mutual was recognized as Outstanding Super Regional Personal Lines Company Partner and Outstanding Super Regional Commercial Lines Company Partner. These awards were part of the 2013 Outstanding Company Partner Awards presented by IIABNY Chair of the Board Thomas J. Crowley.

This is the third year in a row that Preferred Mutual was recognized as Outstanding Super Regional Personal Lines Company Partner, and its first year recognized as the Outstanding Super Regional Commercial Lines Company Partner. Preferred Mutual is the first company to receive both the Personal Lines and Commercial Lines awards for Super Regional Company Partner.

The awards are given to companies that receive top score in the IIABNY Industry Index. The group tallies company scores based on responses to surveys of New York insurance producers. The IIABNY Industry Index rates the insurance industry’s overall performance in personal and commercial insurance. It also assigns individual performance index scores to companies in both categories. The index measures performance in underwriter empowerment, technology ease of use, honest and fair treatment of agencies and customers, company personnel responsiveness and fairness of compensation arrangements. IIABNY publishes the index each winter.

IIABNY exists to fulfill the educational, political, and business interests of its more than 1,750 agencies and their 13,000 plus employees. Members are independent insurance agents and brokers who provide consumers with a choice of products from more than one insurance company. The Outstanding Company Partners awards are based on the result of the IIABNY Carrier Index Surveys for National, Super Regional and Regional Carriers.

“Receiving both of these awards is recognition for the commitment we’ve made to serve our independent agent partners and is further validated by the growth we’ve experienced in both our personal and commercial lines business,” said Brian Lopata, Senior Vice President of Profit Center Operations and Customer Relations.
