Scholastic Art Show 2013 kattreinA GoldKey(Cazenovia, NY – Feb. 2013) Eleven Cazenovia students won prizes in the 2013 CNY Scholastic Art Awards, which drew 4,600 works of art from around Central New York.

The honorees included three Gold Key winners: Amara Kattrein, Courtney Parisou and Colleen Stalder. Silver Keys went to Kate Godiers and Tori Meade. And honorable mentions were awarded to Becky Marris (2), Courtney Parisou (2), Emily Willard, Abbie McEntee, Tori Meade (2), Rachel McLaughlin, Sarah Christiansen (2) and Morgan Croft.

Prize-winning pieces will be on display in the Whitney Applied Technology Center at Onondaga Community College through March 1. Work from Cazenovia seniors’ portfolios, meanwhile, is now on display outside the high school office and in the third-floor glass case near the art rooms.

In all, 32 Cazenovia students participated in this year’s competition, submitting a total of 121 works of art. Of these, nine seniors submitted portfolios (eight-piece collections that represent their hard work, dedication and growth as artists throughout their Cazenovia careers): Becky Marris, Courtney Parisou, Tyler Dunkle, Emily Willard, Emily Murphy , Morgan Croft, Gaevin Froio, Sarah Christiansen and Sam Medbury.

Students who submitted individual work are: Kate Godiers, Amara Kattrein, Alexis King, Caitlin McCauley, Abbie McEntee, Rachel McLaughlin, Danielle Mevec, Danny Phillips, Julia Raleigh, Sydney Schnabl, Matt Mistur, Grace Wheeler, Colleen Stalder, Mitch McCullough, Tori Meade, Natalie Roszel, Alexis Simko, Gillian Brod, Jess McDonough, David Martellock, Delanie Spangler, Samantha Marti, and Brittany Doherty.

The Central New York region has conducted an annual Scholastic Art Awards program for more than 65 years. Our region covers a very large geographic area – 13 counties and almost 400 eligible schools.

Gold Key winners’ work will now go on to the National Scholastic Art Show.
