(Lee, NY – Feb. 13, 2013) State Police in Lee Center are investigating a three car personal injury accident, which occurred Feb. 13 at approximately 4:20 p.m. at the intersection of State Route 26 and Stokes Westernville Road in the Town of Lee.

Initial investigation has revealed that a 2009 Jeep Liberty, operated by 80-year-old James Christodolou of Rome was eastbound on Stokes Westernville Road approaching the intersection of State Route 26 when he failed to stop at the stop sign at this intersection, striking a 2007 Nissan Altima, driven by 38-year-old, Josi Williams from Ava.

The force of the impact forced Williams’ vehicle into the northbound lane of State Route 26 where it struck a 2000 Lexus RX3, operated by 63-year-old Barbara Townsend from Rome.

A passenger in William’s vehicle, her 9-year-old son Ryan Williams sustained serious head injuries and underwent surgery at Upstate University Hospital in Syracuse.  He was seated in the front passenger seat of the vehicle at the time of the accident.

The driver’s of all three vehicles were transported to area hospitals with non-life threatening injuries.  NYSP Troop D Accident Reconstruction Unit is on scene and are reconstructing this accident.  State Police were assisted at the scene by the Lee Center and Town of Lee Fire Departments.
