(Herkimer, NY – Feb. 21, 2013) Herkimer County Community College has named two student-athletes to the Green and Gold Club for January 2013.
The Male Athlete of the Month is swimmer David Stanley, Bronx, NY. In January, Stanley swam his personal best in the 100 freestyle and the 100 backstroke. He also was a member of the 400 freestyle and 400 medley relay teams that swam season best times.
Coach Vicki Brown said, “Over the course of the season, David has improved significantly. He has also become a contributing member of our men’s relay teams. It has been a pleasure to coach David and watch him realize his potential.”
The Female Athlete of the Month is Samantha Randio, Women’s Basketball, New Baltimore, NY. A Business: Sports & Recreation Management student, Randio has scored 9.8 points per game, and 5.4 rebounds per game.
Coach Bradley Gouger said “Sam has really been one of our key players this semester. She has scored in double figures in seven games since the break. One of the keys to our defense, she is very active in the top of the press and leads to a lot of deflections/steals for us. Sam has really progressed throughout the season.”
HCCC’s Green and Gold Club honors an outstanding male and female athlete each month.
