(Cazenovia, NY – March 2013) Eugen Doering presents, “Light, Form, Fantasy,” a solo exhibition of bronze and aluminum sculptures at The Gallery of CNY, 58 Albany St. in Cazenovia March 15 through April 13. Gallery hours are Thursday to Saturday 1 to 5 p.m. A reception will take place Friday March 22 from 5 to 8 p.m.
Doering, a Cazenovia resident, retired from a long career as an architect in Germany, Austria, Poland and Syracuse, to embark on an intensely creative new life devoted to sculpture.
While working as an architect his first pieces were carved from wood and stone. Beginning in 1998 Syracuse University enabled him to embrace the process of casting metal. During the past fourteen years he has created a prodigious collection of sculptures in polished bronze and aluminum. He has exhibited in New York, Syracuse and Europe, where, in 2009 a solo exhibit of forty abstract sculptures was mounted in the Art Museum of Gdynia, Poland. This exhibition encompasses the widest selection of his work seen in the area.
