(Verona, NY – March 2013) Legendary country music group The Oak Ridge Boys made a special presentation at their Thursday, March 7 sold-out performance at the Turning Stone Resort Casino Showroom. The group presented a plaque to Turning Stone, in appreciation for the resort hosting their 40th Anniversary Tour.
As a musical entity, The Oak Ridge Boys can trace their history to the 1940s, when a group of Gospel singers took the name The Oak Ridge Quartet. More than 30 members have come and gone, but the most popular configuration – the current group – came together in 1973. Duane Allen, William Lee Golden, Richard Sterban and Joe Bonsall have been making hits and performing together ever since.
Their string of hits is led by the double-platinum selling Elvira, which soared up the Billboard Country and Pop charts in 1981. The group has scored 12 gold, three platinum, and one double platinum album, and had more than a dozen national Number One singles and over 30 Top Ten hits.
The Oak Ridge Boys continue to perform nearly 150 shows annually. Their 40th Anniversary Tour continues through mid-May.
