Wildcats new(Gansevoort, NY – April 2, 2013) The North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) has announced its Student-Athlete of the Week selections in the sports of baseball, men’s golf, men’s and women’s lacrosse, softball, men’s and women’s tennis and men’s volleyball for the period ending March 31, 2013.

Jamie Barr (Frankfort, N.Y.) has been named the NEAC Baseball Student-Athlete of the Week after a fantastic performance for the Cazenovia College Wildcats. The senior infielder was sensational at the plate during a doubleheader sweep of Valley Forge Christian College last Friday, going 7-for-10 with four triples, nine RBI, two runs scored and no strikeouts to register both a batting average and on-base percentage of .700 to go along with a 1.500 slugging percentage.  He had a pair of triples and scored a run in each contest, driving in six runs on four hits in an 11-2 game-one victory before adding three RBI on three hits in a 12-6 win during game two. His four triples on the week gave him the conference lead for the season in that category, while he also ranks second overall in slugging percentage at .700.

Zach Levanduski (Elmira Heights, N.Y.) has been chosen as the NEAC Baseball Pitching Co-Student-Athletes of the Week after an outstanding performance on the mound. Levanduski, a junior for the Cazenovia College Wildcats, struck out nine batters in just 5.1 innings of work before being relieved during the Wildcats’ 11-2 seven-inning victory over Valley Forge Christian College in game one of their doubleheader on Friday.  He scattered seven hits and gave up no earned runs on the day while also being solid at the plate, finishing with two RBI and scoring a run through both games.  Levanduski is currently the conference leader in strikeouts (27), while being fourth in ERA (2.19).

Alicia Priest (Camillus, N.Y.) has been selected as the NEAC Women’s Lacrosse Offensive Student-Athlete of the Week after a phenomenal set of performances for the Cazenovia College Wildcats.  The senior attacker led the Wildcats to a pair of victories by posting 15 points on 14 goals and an assist last week, while also registering five draw controls, three groundballs and two caused turnovers.  Priest scored seven goals in each contest – both game highs – during the victories, a 15-9 win over Houghton College Thursday followed by a 14-5 victory over Hilbert College Saturday.  She also tallied an assist and a team-best four draw controls in Thursday’s victory and added three groundballs in Saturday’s win.  Priest currently leads the NEAC in both goals (35) and points (37) for the season.

Christina Marra (Ballston Spa, N.Y.) has been named the NEAC Women’s Lacrosse Defensive Student-Athlete of the Week after a solid week for the Cazenovia College Wildcats.  Marra helped the Wildcats secure two victories during a pair of contests last week, totaling 13 saves and scooping up four groundballs while recording a goals against average of 7.00.  The senior goalkeeper made six saves and tallied three groundballs in Thursday’s win over Houghton College before making seven stops in Saturday’s victory over Hilbert College.   Marra is the current conference leader in saves (58) while being tied for first in wins (3) on the season thus far.
