(Utica, NY – April 2013) In recognition of National Poetry Month, the Utica Public Library will host Utica Poets Society: Open Mic on Tuesday, April 16 at 6:30 pm.  The event will be presented by Gregory Mirell.

The Utica Poets Society is a collective of local Mohawk Valley poets dedicated to promoting poetry in all of its forms through the field of live performance.  Come listen to some of the latest works by many of the best of the Utica poetry scene.  Bring your own favorite poetry to share with the audience.  The mic will be hot at 6:30 pm.

Memoir Writing Class Offered

On Saturday, May 11 at 1 pm, the Utica Public Library will host “Narrative Memoir Writing: Writing a Personal Memoir.”

Author and educator, Louis G. Alexander will take participants through all the steps including self-publication.  You do not have to be a celebrity to pen a memoir and you can create a wonderful legacy to leave your family.

The program is free to the public and geared for adults and seniors.
