(Rochester, NY – May 2, 2013) Twelve members of the RIT men’s lacrosse team were named to the 2013 Liberty League Men’s Lacrosse All-Conference team, which was announced by on Wednesday, May 1.

Junior Jack Krzyston (Bedford, NH/Bishop Guertin) was named 2013 Liberty League Offensive Player of the Year, sophomore Pat Johnston (Norwell, MA/Norwell) was the 2013 Defensive Player of the Year, and Head Coach Jake Coon and the Tigers coaching staff were named the Coaching Staff of the Year.

Krzyston, Johnson, Kyle Aquin (Hamilton, Ontario/St. Jean De Brebeuf), and Elliott Cowburn (Oakville, ON/Holy Trinity) were first team selections. Eddie Kiesa (Syracuse, NY/Jamesville-Dewitt), Allister Warren (Toronto, Ontario/Malvern Collegiate Institute), Taylor Wisman (Seattle, WA/Inglemoor), Tyler Brooks-Lambert (Seneca Castle, NY/Midlakes), and Joe Dupra (Pittsford, NY/Pittsford Mendon) were second team selections. Luke Wolfe (Buffalo, NY/Williamsville North), Mac Keehfus (Jamesville, NY/Jamesville-Dewitt) and Evan Burley (Canandaigua, NY/Canandaigua Academy) were honorable mention picks.

Krzyston led the Tigers and the Liberty League in scoring, averaging 4.27 points per game this season. A two-time offensive performer of the week honoree, he finished the regular season with 39 goals and 25 assists for a total of 64 points. He led the Tigers’ tenth-ranked scoring offense in both assists and points, while recording at least one point in 15 of 16 games this season, and two or more points in 13 games. Through six league games, Krzyston tallied 27 points (18 goals, nine assists) with a .806 shot percentage.

Johnston started all 16 games in net for the Tigers and posted a perfect 6-0 record in Liberty League contests this season with a 6.15 goals against average and .686 save percentage in those games. Overall, he finished second in the league with 6.27 goals against and led the conference and was fourth in Division III with a .662 save percentage. The three-time defensive player of the week honoree posted double-digit saves in 14 of RIT’s 16 games, and made a career-high 19 saves against RPI.

Cowburn, one of four team captains, has started and played in all 16 games this season for the Tigers. The senior defenseman has helped RIT’s defense hold opponents to 6.81 goals per game overall, and 5.83 goals per game in conference play. Cowburn, a 2012 All-Liberty League honorable mention selection, leads the team with 17 caused turnovers and has 47 ground balls on the season. Last Saturday, Cowburn caused five turnovers and two ground balls in a win over St. Lawrence earning Liberty League Defensive Player of the Week honors.

Aquin, one of four team captains, is second on the team in scoring with 53 points and leads the team with 45 goals to go along with eight assists. He scored at least one goal in all 16 games this season, and led the Liberty League averaging 2.81 goals per game. Aquin has 15 man-up goals on the season, one shy of tying the school record, and was tied for second in the league averaging 3.25 points per game. He scored a career high five goals versus Union on March 17, and earned Liberty League Player of the Week honors on March 25.

Kiesa has played in all 16 games this season, and is third on the team in scoring with 52 points on 30 goals and 22 assists. He scored a career high six goals in a win over Skidmore on April 20, earning Liberty League Player of the Week honors. He finished the regular season tied for sixth in the league averaging 1.88 goals per game, and third averaging 1.38 assists per game and averaging 3.25 points per game.

Wisman is fifth on the team in scoring with 40 points on 18 goals and 22 assists. His 22 assists is tied for second on the team, and is tied with Kiesa for sixth in league play averaging 1.64 assist per game. Wisman is 10th in the conference averaging 2.50 points per game, and tallied a season-best five points on two goals and three assists in a win over Rensselaer on March 6. Wisman finished the regular season with 92 career points on 37 goals and 55 assists. Wisman is eight points shy of becoming the 40th player in RIT history to reach 100 career points.

Warren has scored at least one point in all 16 games this season. He is fourth on the team in scoring with 47 points on 30 goals and 17 assists. He is sixth in the league in scoring averaging 2.94 points per game, tied for sixth in goals averaging 1.88 per game, and assists averaging 1.38 per game. Warren tallied a season-high six points on four goals and two assists in a win over Endicott on March 17.

Brooks-Lambert leads the team and is 31st in all of Division III in face-off winning percentage, winning 62.7 (125-199) percent of his draws this season. He won a season-high 13 face-offs versus No.1 Cortland back on March 27. Brooks-Lambert leads the Tigers with 70 ground balls, grabbing seven three times this season. He is 245-of-401 (61.1%) in face-offs in his career at RIT.

Dupra has played in 14 games this season for the Tigers, and has helped RIT’s defense hold opponents to 6.81 goals per game overall, and 5.83 goals per game in conference play. Dupra has 12 ground balls and six caused turnovers in 2013.

Wolfe has started all 16 games this season for the Tigers. The senior long-stick midfielder has helped RIT’s defense hold opponents to 6.81 goals per game overall, and 5.83 goals per game in conference play. Wolfe has also contributed on the offensive end tallying three goals. He is second on the team with 12 caused turnovers to go along with 17 ground balls.

Keehfus has started all 16 games this season for the Tigers, tallying five points on four goals and an assist to go along with 39 ground balls. The junior defensive midfielder has helped RIT’s defense hold opponents to 6.81 goals per game overall, and 5.83 goals per game in conference play.

Burley, one of four team captains, has played in eight games this season for the Tigers. The senior defenseman helped RIT’s defense hold opponents to 6.81 goals per game overall, and 5.83 goals per game in conference play. Burley has nine ground balls ground balls and five caused turnovers in 2013.

Head Coach Jake Coon and his staff led the Tigers to a 14-2 overall record, including a perfect 6-0 regular season against Liberty League teams, the Division III leading man-up offense (54.5%) and 10th-ranked scoring offense (14.88). Under Coon’s leadership, RIT earned its second regular season championship and conference tournament appearance in as many seasons and three trips to the NCAA Tournament. In his four seasons, Coon and his staff have led the Tigers to a 63-12 (.840) overall record.

RIT finished the regular season 14-2 overall and won the Liberty League regular season title for the second straight season, finishing with a perfect 6-0 conference record. The Tigers earned the top seed in the tournament and will host Union College in the Liberty League Tournament semifinals on Friday, May 3 at 4 p.m. Friday’s winner will face the winner between St. Lawrence and Clarkson in the championship game on Sunday, May 5 at 12 p.m. The Liberty League champion earns the automatic bid into the 2013 NCAA Division III Tournament.
