(Hamilton, NY – May 2013) The Colgate Bookstore and Hamilton Public Library are again sponsoring the Chenango Valley Scribes young writers and illustrators contest.

All community members are invited to the awards reception honoring the area participants from kindergarten through fifth grade.  We hope you’ll join us for this special event Friday, May 17, at 6:30 p.m. at the Colgate Bookstore.

Following the awards reception, the writing submissions will be on display at the library through June 7.

Come one, come all to the Hamilton Central School Student Art Exhibit.  The artwork will be on display at the library from May 14 through June 8.  We hope you’ll stop by to view the artwork created by HCS middle and high school students and vote for their People’s Choice Award.

The Friends of the Library are hosting a reception Monday, May 20, from 5 to 6:45 p.m.

This is a wonderful opportunity for community members to meet the artists.

The library will be closed Monday, May 27, in observance of Memorial Day.

Hilary Virgil is director of the Hamilton Public Library. The library is usually open Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Saturday, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Please call the library at (315) 824-3060, during these hours for assistance.
