Girl Scouts New Use this(Little Falls, NY – May 14, 2013) Girls in second through 10th grade can attend an eight-week summer series beginning June 4 at the Herkimer Home, 200 State Route 169 in Little Falls. Pre-registration is required and new members are welcome.

During the series girls will take part in horticulture, the art and science of growing fruits, flowers, and vegetables. The project girls will be participating in will focus on the science behind Iroquois gardening methods, exploring the foods, customs, and stories that evolved from the planting of corn, beans, and squash – the Three Sisters. Sessions will be held: June 4 and 18, July 2, 16 and 30, Aug. 6 and 20 and Sept. 3 from 6 to 7:30 p.m.

By participating in the program girls will gain practical life skills, develop critical thinking, and feel connected to their communities both locally and globally – outcomes for the Girl Scout Leadership Experience. The Girl Scout Leadership Experience allows girls to Discover their interests, Connect with others in their communities and Take Action to make the world a better place.
