June 8                   Feral Swine in New York State: An Emerging Concern                                    11am-noon

Feral swine are considered an invasive, exotic pest species in New York State, and the current management goal is eradication. Hogs cause damage to crops and native plants, impact ground-nesting birds, and could spread diseases to livestock. On June 8th, Dr. Paul D. Curtis, Associate Professor and Extension Wildlife Specialist from the Department of Natural Resources at Cornell University, will speak about feral hog biology, and the current status of feral hogs in the state. Dr. Curtis has coordinated the Wildlife Damage Management Program for Cornell Cooperative Extension during the past 23 years. Dr. Curtis is a Certified Wildlife Biologist with The Wildlife Society. The cost for this program is $5 for members; $15/family; $8 for nonmembers, $25/family. Call 673-1350 to register.
