(Sylvan Beach, NY – June 8, 2013) State Police in Sylvan Beach are investigating a one car fatal crash that occurred shortly after 2 a.m. this morning on Vienna Road in the Town of Vienna, Oneida County.
Investigation has revealed a 2003 Chevrolet Impala, operated by 20 year-old, Tyler D. Laplante was traveling north bound on Vienna Road in the Town of Vienna when it failed to negotiate a right hand turn due to driving at an unsafe speed. The vehicle exited the west shoulder of the roadway striking a tree and overturning.
A passenger, Justin T. Didio, age 22, from Oneida was able to exit the vehicle and call for assistance. The vehicle then caught on fire and became fully engulfed with the driver and rear passenger in the vehicle. The rear passenger is believed to be identified as Angelo J. Gonzalez, age 21, from Camden. Positive identity is pending autopsy results. It is believed that alcohol may have been a contributing factor in the crash.
Village of Sylvan Beach responded and the fire was extinguished and occupants inside of the vehicle were pronounced deceased. The deceased were removed by the Onondaga County Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy.
