(Utica, NY – June 2013) Starting July 1 area youth are able to sign up to take part in the area’s largest annual Summer Reading Program at the Utica Public Library.  The Summer Reading Program encourages the area’s youth to actively read all summer long while they are not in school and provides great incentives for their time spent reading, including the opportunity to receive a free book just for completing program.  In addition, the Summer Reading Program offers many fun, educational, and amazing programs—from arts & crafts to magicians and musicians—and events to keep youth entertained, safe, and active during their summer vacation.

Sponsored by M&T Bank / Partners Trust Bank Charitable Fund, a donor-advised fund of The Community Foundation of Herkimer & Oneida Counties, Inc., the Summer Reading Program at the Utica Public Library begins July 1 and runs through Aug. 3.  This year’s theme invites youth to “Dig Into Reading!” and many programs at the Library will highlight this theme, including a comedy/magic show with gold prospector Klondike Dave, a movie series with an “underground” theme, and a visit from a pair of paleontologists and their giant dinosaur skulls!

A full listing of events can be found in the Children’s Room or on the Library’s website, www.uticapubliclibrary.org.
