(Watertown, NY – July 11, 2013) The Black River American Legion Riders Post 673 presented a check for $6,510 to the Watertown Urban Mission on Wednesday night before their monthly meeting. The motorcycle group chose the Mission to support with its annual ride on June 1 largely because of the Mission’s local impact across Jefferson County, including help given to retired and active duty military personnel and their families.
Pictured in front of the group are Joseph Martel, club president, and Drew Mangione, development director for the Watertown Urban Mission.
“It was truly an honor for the Watertown Urban Mission to be chosen to benefit from this ride and to see so many great people come out in support of their community,” Mangione said. “The money raised by this event will help many families to overcome struggles in their lives and in turn strengthen our community as a whole. We are so thankful for Joe and every member of the club who showed how big their hearts are for their neighbors in how much time, effort and financial commitment they put behind making this ride a successful fundraiser.”
