(Cazenovia, NY – July 2013) Three films are scheduled for August in the Cazenovia Public Library Community Room: Journey to the Center of the Earth, Rise of the Guardians and Oblivion.
Journey to the Center of the Earth will be shown on Friday, Aug. 2 at 6:30 p.m. In this film, a scientist Trevor Anderson, his nephew Sean, and their mountain guide are on a quest to find out what happened to Trevor’s missing brother. During their journey, they become trapped in a cave, and while seeking an exit, they fall in a hole. Here they discover a lost world in the center of the Earth. Journey to the Center of the Earth runs for 93 minutes and is rated PG for intense adventure action and some scary moments.
Rise of the Guardians will be shown on the following Friday, Aug. 9, also at 6:30 p.m. A movie that will be timeless because of its content, humor, and wise message, Rise of the Guardians reveals an evil spirit known as Pitch who lays down the gauntlet to take over the world. Now the Immortal Guardians must join forces for the first time to protect the hopes, beliefs, and imaginations of children all over the world. This film runs for 98 minutes and is rated PG for thematic elements and some mildly scary action.
Wednesday, Aug. 14 brings Oblivion to the big screen with two showings at 1 and 6:30 p.m. Regarded as one of the best movies of the year, Oblivion is a visually arresting sci-fi beauty. Tom Cruise stars as one of the few remaining drone repairmen assigned to Earth after decades of war with the alien Scavs has left its surface devastated. When he discovers a crashed spacecraft with contents that bring into question everything he believed about the war, Cruise is led on a journey of redemption and discovery as he battles to save mankind. (IMDb) Oblivion runs for 124 minutes and is rated PG-13 for sci-fi action violence, brief strong language, and some sensuality/nudity.
