Morrisville State Lacrosse logo (Morrisville, NY – Sept. 4, 2013) Freshman midfielder Bailey Rutan (Cincinnatus, N.Y.) collected a free kick chip in the 104th minute and fired it into the top of the net to give the Morrisville State College women’s soccer team a thrilling 1-0 overtime win Wednesday night on Drake Field in Morrisville.

The Mustangs improve to 1-2 overall, and post their first win since the 2011 season.

Southern Vermont had plenty of chances throughout the contest to post a score, but freshman keeper Angela Marriott (Peekskill, N.Y.) put up a wall and made crucial doorstop saves, including one in the second overtime period, to secure the shutout victory.

Marriott turned away eight on the night, three from point blank range.

Katie Raymond (Bristol, Conn.) recorded the loss in net, making nine saves.

Morrisville State returns to the field Saturday, opening conference play at Wells at 2 p.m.
