(Oneida County, NY – Sept. 2013) Four Oneida County 4-H youth earned the privilege of representing New York State 4-H at the 45th annual Invitational Youth Dairy Cattle Judging Contest, held Monday, Sept. 9 during the 2013 All-American Dairy Show in Harrisburg.  Competing against 15 teams from across the United States, 4-H members Jaycie Staring, Rome; Jessica vanLieshout, Verona; Kristen Gallagher; Sangerfield; and Theresa vanLieshout, Verona, placed in the top ten as a team.  One of the youngest teams competing, the NYS 4-H team came away from the contest with experience that will benefit them for future national contests.

The team members underwent a series of contests at the New York State Fair in order to gain them the honor of attending the All-American Dairy Show.  By placing in the top 25 individually at the NYS 4-H Dairy Judging Contest the youth were invited back to a second contest at the NYS Fair in which they placed near the top ten to earn the privilege of traveling nationally to represent the state.
