(Syracuse, NY – Oct. 2013) The ARISE Foundation welcomed four new members to the Board of Directors and elected officers for the coming year. Officers are Denise McGraw, Chair; Lt. Col. Ed Cook, Vice Chair; David Dreverman, Treasurer; and Agnes McCray, Secretary.
The following individuals have joined the ARISE Foundation Board of Directors: Janet Haskins, BrandiLee Schafran, Dan Schafran, and Janice Vitale. Continuing board members are John Bosco, Kim Brown, Marianne De Lorenzo DiNiro, Jeffrey Grimshaw, Lynn Hamilton, Carol Kranz, Tom McKeown, and Kristen Smith.
The ARISE Foundation was formed in 2011 to ensure that ARISE can continue to provide extraordinary services for people with any type of disability – both today and tomorrow. ARISE is a not-for-profit organization organized and directed by people with disabilities.
Since 1979, ARISE has provided opportunities so that people with disabilities can live freely and independently in the community. Programs are primarily based in Onondaga, Oswego, and Madison Counties and are focused on: advocacy & accessibility; basic needs & assistance; education, employment, & skill-building; health & wellness; and recreation & art.
ARISE also operates ARISE at the Farm, a 77-acre inclusive recreation center in Chittenango as well as ARISE & Ski, an inclusive winter sports program held at Toggenburg Winter Sports Center in Fabius.
