Democratic party(Peterboro, NY – Oct. 2013) The Town of Smithfield Democrats will host a coffee for the public to meet Democrat candidates for the Nov. 5 election from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 29 at the Smithfield Community Center, 5255 Pleasant Valley Road, Peterboro.

Smithfield Candidates:

*Daniel Davis is running for Superintendent of Highways in Smithfield. Davis graduated from Madison-Oneida BOCES and Morrisville State College with training in heavy equipment, diesel technology, and construction theory. Davis interned with the Madison County Highway Department, and has worked for six and a half years for equipment companies with duties that include maintenance of equipment with crew and finance management.

*Currently on the Town of Smithfield Board, Brenda Goff is running to maintain her seat. A graduate of Morrisville State College, Goff worked in the state university system for 38 years. She serves as an officer of the Peterboro Cemetery Association and the Peterboro Historical Society, and also served on the town planning board.

*Paul Shiffer, former supervisor for the Town of Smithfield, is running for a seat on the Town Board. A graduate of Wilkes University and a retired teacher, Shiffer served in the military in Korea for two tours. He was the first president of SEVAC and is the director of the Canastota Community Band.

Madison County Candidates:

*Ann Jones, who lives on a family farm in Fenner and has been a volunteer in Peterboro heritage projects, is running for Madison County Clerk. A graduate of SUNY Cortland with a Masters in Public Education from Marist, Jones is currently Senior Elections Clerk at Madison County Board of Elections. She has served the county on other boards and organizations and has also served as the dispatcher for the Cazenovia Area Volunteer Ambulance Corps.
