(Town of Lenox, NY – Oct. 31, 2013) Madison County Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to a reported animal cruelty incident Wednesday evening in the Madison County Town of Lenox. Investigation and interviews found that an area juvenile shot a dog with a pellet gun.
Deputies arrested a 13 year old male and charged him with one count of NYS Agriculture and Markets Law Article 26, Section 353, Torturing or Injuring an Animal, a Class A Misdemeanor.
The juvenile’s parent was issued an appearance ticket for Madison County Family Court, where the charge will be answered in early November.
The pellet gun was seized as it was used in the commission of a crime.
The dog was transported to an animal hospital in Syracuse by the owner to be treated for the injury.
