(New Hartford, NY – Oct. 29, 2013) Assemblywoman Claudia Tenney (R, C, I – New Hartford) reminded constituents that health care regulations under The Affordable Care Act (Obamacare) went into effect Oct. 1.
“While I continue to disagree with President Obama’s health care reform, I want my constituents to know that I will be ready and able to walk them through any questions or concerns they might have about the process,” said Tenney.
Under the new regulations, individuals are required to purchase and maintain health insurance coverage. New YorkState has established its own Health Benefit exchange to facilitate the purchase of insurance. The exchange will begin accepting applications on October 1st.
Individuals not covered through their employer, Medicare, or Medicaid, must purchase coverage through the New York State Health Benefit Exchange (NY State of Health).
