(Syracuse, NY – Nov. 2013) New York Air National Guard Major Sandra Stoquert, a Camden resident and school counselor at Adirondack Central School District in Boonville, has been named Public Affairs Officer for the 174th Attack Wing.
The wing, based at Hancock Field Air National Guard Base in Syracuse operates the MQ-9 remotely piloted vehicle and also provides training to MQ-9 pilots, sensor operators, and maintainers from the Air Force and Air National Guard.
As Public Affairs Officer Stoquert, a veteran of the Iraq war will provide information to the media and the public about the operations of the 174th Attack Wing.
Stoquert joined the New York Air National Guard in 1996 after service in the Army and Navy Reserves. She has served as an F-16 maintainer and quality assurance inspector. After being commissioned as an officer in 2004 she served as Equipment Maintenance Flight Commander, as well as Maintenance Flight Commander. She also served in the Air Force Medical Service Corps.
She served in Iraq at Balad Air Base in 2006/07 and deployed to New Orleans in 2005 to assist in the Hurricane Katrina response. She also served in Saudi Arabia in 2000 and in Qatar in 2003.
She holds an Associates of Science Degree from Herkimer County Community College, a Bachelor of Science Degree from Ithaca College and a Master’s of Science Degree from Alfred University. Her military education includes Officer Training School, Health Services Administration School and Squadron Officers School.
Her awards include the Air Force Commendation Medal, Air Force Achievement Medal, Meritorious Unit Award, Air Force Outstanding Unit Award with Valor Device, the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, the Iraq Campaign Medal, the Air Force Expeditionary Service Ribbon and the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal.
In her civilian job Stoquert acts as co-chair on the Oneida County Family and Youth Council, School and Community Working Group and serves as on the board for the Central New York Veterans Outreach Center in Utica.
She resides with her husband Rick Stoquert.
Her son Jason Clary is currently serving in the Navy.
