(Manlius, NY – Nov. 15, 2013) Sullivan-based state police charged Lori A. Beck, age 44, of Fyler Road, Kirkville with DWI after she was stopped in the Town of Manlius Sunday evening.
At approximately 8:35 p.m. on Nov. 10, Trooper Christopher Taylor stopped a 2008 Mitsubishi Eclipse on Kirkville Road in the Manlius for operating with only one headlight. Upon approaching the vehicle, the trooper observed fresh damage to the front of the car and interviewed the driver, Beck, who stated she had recently driven off the road while heading to her residence.
While speaking with Beck, the trooper determined that she been consuming alcoholic beverages and conducted roadside sobriety tests, which indicated Beck was intoxicated. Beck was arrested for DWI and transported to the SP Sullivan station for processing, where a breath test determined her blood alcohol content to be .21 percent.
Further investigation revealed Beck had driven off the road on North Manlius Road in the Town of Manlius about 15 minutes prior to being stopped and had struck a road sign before leaving the scene without reporting the crash.
A DMV check showed a prior DWI conviction within the past 10 years.
Beck was charged with Felony DWI, Felony Aggravated DWI, Leaving the scene of a property damage accident and other traffic charges and arraigned in the Town of Manlius Court.
Beck was remanded to the Onondaga County Justice Center in lieu of $1,500 cash or $2,500 bond and is scheduled to reappear in Manlius Court on Nov. 19.
