Sue Page

(Syracuse, NY – Nov. 27, 2013) The American Red Cross of Central New York has selected Regional Casework Lead and Disaster Action Team Captain Sue Page, of Marcellus, as its Volunteer of the Month for November 2013. The Volunteer of the Month program, sponsored by Dunkin’ Donuts, recognizes dedicated Red Cross volunteers for their hard work and commitment to the humanitarian organization.

Page has spent more than a decade with the Red Cross helping people affected by disasters in Onondaga County and around the country. She started as a member of the local Disaster Action Team (DAT) that responds to fires and other local disasters, and she was quickly recruited as a caseworker to assist clients with their immediate needs and long-term recovery.

As the current Regional Casework Lead, Page supervises the caseworkers throughout the American Red Cross Central New York Region’s 16 counties. As a local Disaster Action Team captain, she helps organize and manage volunteers who respond to house fires, floods and other local disasters.

“Sue is always willing to help and always has a smile on her face,” said Rosie Taravella, Chief Executive Officer of the American Red Cross Central New York Region. “Her dedicated work ensures that those impacted by disasters are assisted efficiently and effectively.”

Page joined the Red Cross because her aunt and uncle had volunteered with the Red Cross as DAT members and she also wanted to help people affected by disasters. Originally from Syracuse, Page also volunteers with other organizations and enjoys spending her free time with her grandchildren, Michaella, Ethan and Elizabeth.

Page received a $25 Dunkin’ Donuts gift card as a token of appreciation for her volunteer service.
