State Police in Herkimer make Arrest in Donald Wichelns Case
(Herkimer, NY – Dec. 16, 2013) On December 16, 2013, the New York State Police BCI in Herkimer arrested Shannon Marie Hardy-Sekel, 27, from 541 E. Jefferson Street, Little Falls for 2 counts of second-degree Criminal Possession of Forged Instrument, a class “D” felony.
Sekel possessed and cashed checks belonging to Donald Wichelns who was found deceased inside a dog crate behind a residence on Flint Avenue in the City of Little Falls in May of 2013.
This arrest is the result of a lengthy investigation into the access and theft of several years worth of Wichelns Social Security benefits and the forging and cashing of checks from his personal bank account.
Sekel was arraigned in the Town of German Flatts Court and remanded to the Herkimer County Jail on 10,000 cash / $20,000 bail bond.
This investigation is continually ongoing and other arrests will be forthcoming.
Whitesboro Woman arrested for Grand Larceny by Herkimer State Police
(Herkimer, NY Dec. 17, 2013) The following subject was arrested Dec. 4 by the Herkimer State Police BCI for fourth-degree Grand Larceny, a Class E Felony after a Frankfort man reported several fraudulent transactions on his GPO Federal Credit Union checking account.
Over the course of 9 months fraudulent charges were made to this account in the total amount of $1,729.68. Automatic on-line debits were made from the account to Verizon Wireless, Capital One, and TJX Rewards. A total of approximately 25 separate transactions were made.
Dana Prestigiacomo, 33, of 8157 Woods Highway Whitesboro.
She was arraigned Dec. 4 in the Village of Herkimer Court and remanded to the Herkimer County Jail on 2,000 cash / 7,500 bail bond.
State Police Arrest four Suspects in Home Invasion Burglary
(Herkimer, NY – Dec. 19, 2013) On Dec. 18 at approximately 8:20 p.m. State Police in Herkimer were called to a report of a home invasion burglary located at 102 Ryan Road in the Town of Norway, Herkimer County.
Two masked males had entered the residence with what appeared to be firearms and confronted a male subject and a 15 year old female subject. The female subject was forced to assist the perpetrators in loading several bags and boxes with cartons of cigarettes, US currency and rolled US coins. The two subjects then left the residence and were driven away by a third subject.
The story of the male inside the residence immediately became suspect and a quick investigation revealed that he had part of the plan to commit the burglary. All four subjects were subsequently located and arrested. The following suspects were arrested and charged as follows:
Kasim Sakinovic, 18, of 682 State Route 365 Remsen was charged with first-degree burglary, endangering the welfare of a child, second-degree harassment and disorderly conduct.
Hajrudin Cvrk, 19, of 519 Coolidge Street, Utica was arrested for first-degree burglary and endangering the welfare of a child
Michael A. Litz, 20, of 924 State Route 365, Remsen was charged with first-degree burglary and endangering the welfare of a child.
Elvir Rosic, 17, of 906 Mary St., Utica was arrested for first-degree burglary and endangering the welfare of a child.
All 4 subjects were arraigned in the Town of Norway Court and remanded to the Herkimer County Jail on $30,000 cash / $60,000 Bail Bond.
