(Herkimer, NY – Jan. 2, 2014) On Wednesday Jan. 1 at 8 a.m. State Police in Herkimer responded to a residential fire at 450 Hoertz Road in the Town of Manheim.
Investigation revealed that the structure was completely destroyed by fire. Further examination of the scene revealed human remains were located in what is believed to be the rear door area of the residence. No positive identification can be made at this time. The victim was transported to Little Falls Hospital where an autopsy will be conducted at a later date by Doctor Michael Sikirica.
The Herkimer County Cause and Origin Team responded to the scene to determine the cause of the fire. The investigation is continuing.
