(Yorkville, NY – Jan. 2014) The Oneida County Association of Towns (OCAOT) will have two guest speakers at their Jan. 21 dinner meeting to be held at Club Monarch (16 Erie St.) in Yorkville.
Oneida County Executive, Anthony Picente, Jr. will speak on his Vision 20-20 Initiative.
Jo-Anne Humphreys, Water Quality Specialist from Oneida County Soil & Water Conservation District will speak on the various components of a Hazard Mitigation Plan.
Also at this meeting, the vacancies of 1st Vice President of the OCAOT and Secretary of the OCAOT will be filled.
The meeting starts promptly at 6 p.m. The guest speakers will begin after dinner has been served.
“Since we have only quarterly meetings, I wanted to try out having two guest speakers at our January meeting, which will give attendees the opportunity to potentially learn twice as much in comparison with just one speaker,” said Fritz Scherz, OCAOT President. “The two speakers we have scheduled will provide some timely information, too. Mr. Picente will elaborate on his Vision 20-20 Initiative, which has goals of having Oneida County ready from both an educational and workforce development aspect for not only the businesses we currently have but also the new ones that will inevitably be coming. Ms. Humphreys is a subject matter expert on hazard mitigation plans. Given the weather-related challenges our area has been experiencing as well as the potential for evacuations based on non-weather events, too, this information will be very helpful. I’m hopeful of seeing many of my colleagues from local government in Oneida County at this meeting and encourage those interested to sign up right away as seating is limited.”
The OCAOT has a goal of helping towns obtain greater economy and efficiency, and to provide learning and networking opportunities for town officials. Officials from local government in Oneida County are welcome to attend all OCAOT meetings.
The cost per attendee is $20. For reservations, contact Gina LaMonte at:paristowncodesofficer@frontiernet.net or call: (315) 839-5678 ext. 7 no later than Jan. 16.
