(Cazenovia, NY – Feb. 2014) During winter break, the Cazenovia Public Library in collaboration with the Common Grounds Service Learning Program is offering three afternoon Explorer Sessions for students in Kindergarten to Fourth grade and their families.

The Explorer Days will give children a chance to dive into new topics and activities.  Sessions will be held in the Library’s Community Room from 1:30 to 3:30 pm on Wednesday, Feb. 19 through Friday. Feb. 21.

The schedule of sessions is as follows:
Wednesday, Feb. 19: Ice Architecture
1:30 to 3:30 p.m. beginning in the Community Room for children and their families.

Children will be able to build and create amazing structures out of ice. Using a little bit of science and a lot of imagination, amazing structures will be crafted and on display outside the library. Note: a portion of this program will be held outside so please dress accordingly.

Thursday, Feb. 20: Performing Puppets
1:30 to 3:30 p.m. in the Community Room

Join actors and actress from the high school’s drama department for a day of performance immersion. Begin with theatrical warm-ups and ice breaks to stretch your acting muscles and then practice and perform a short puppet show for your families. All of the needed props and supplies will be provided.

Friday, February 21: Library Olympics
1:30 to 3:30 p.m. in the Community Room

To celebrate the conclusion of the Sochi Olympics, we will conduct our own Library Olympics with events that will test the skills and endurance of our library athletes. There will also be a torch lighting and medal ceremony for all who attend.
