(Cazenovia, NY – Feb. 2014) The Syracuse Vocal Ensemble will perform at 7:30 p.m. March 8 at the First United Methodist Church, 23 Lincklaen St., Cazenovia.
The Ensemble concludes its 40th anniversary season in collaboration with Society for New Music, presenting Love and Light, a concert program featuring two very different 20th century composers, Morten Lauridsen and Earl George.
Lauridsen is recipient of the 2007 National Medal of Arts; the music of George (1924-1994), composer, Syracuse University professor and critic, was influenced by poets E. E. Cummings and William Blake.
Local soloists Laura Enslin, soprano; Ida Trebicka, piano; and John Friedrich, clarinet, will join the ensemble and Robert Cowles in performance of this part of the program.
This concert will also be performed at 3 p.m. March 9 at St. Paul’s Episcopal Cathedral, 220 Fayette St., Syracuse.
Tickets are $20 for adults; $18 for seniors and $5 for students at the door. Tickets also are available at syracusevocalensemble.org and societyfornewmusic.org. For more information, call 315.687.9551.
