Event scheduled for June 8 in Verona Beach
(Bridgeport, Verona Beach, NY- April 2014) The American Diabetes Association is pleased to have the support of one of New York state’s most prominent faces – Miss New York Teen USA, Corrin Stellakis.
One of the ADA’s major fundraisers, the Tour de Cure cycling event in Central New York draws more than 1,000 riders each year.
Stellakis, of Bridgeport, urges riders to sign up for the event June 8 in Verona Beach.
Stellakis stands behind ADA’s mission to “Stop Diabetes” as her uncle is one of the 26 million Americans affected by the disease. She also lost her great grandmother to complications with diabetes.
Diabetes is growing at an epidemic rate, taking someone’s life every 17 seconds. In fact, there are more than 79 million American adults with pre-diabetes, which puts them at high risk for developing Type 2 diabetes.
Tour de Cure promotes healthy living and raises critical funding for research, support and advocacy. Each participant raises funds to ride in routes that range from 15 to 100 miles.

Stellakis is due to compete in the Miss Teen USA pageant this summer.
