(Morrisville, NY – May 1, 2014) The North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) announced its 2014 Softball North and South Division All-Conference Team selections today, with first and second team honors being awarded to the top 20 players for each division as selected by the conference coaches, regardless of position.

Among the top 20 players are Morrisville State College freshmen Liz Miller (East Greenbush, N.Y.) and Beth Marr (Lindenhurst, N.Y.), who both were recognized with second teal accolades.

Miller2014Miller played a significant role in her first collegiate season for the Mustangs at the center field position and as lead-off batter in the starting lineup. She ranks second on the team in batting average (.386), making 83 appearances at the plate to record a team high 32 hits, 10 of which were doubles, and a team best 17 runs scored.

Throughout the season, Miller posted 15 RBI’s and four stolen bases. In 18 of 28 games this season, she recorded hits, including a game best .750 batting average three times on the season, once against New England College where she scored twice and drove in one. She had similar tallies against Keuka and Wells, of which she went 3-for-4 in a single game, with an RBI and one run scored.

Miller ranked 12th overall in the NEAC at the conclusion of the regular season in hits (32), third in doubles (10), and is 16th in batting average (.386). At centerfield, Miller registered a fielding percentage of .831, on 59 put outs and four assists.

The graduate of Columbia High is majoring in individual studies at Morrisville State. She is the daughter of Julie and Tom Miller of East Greenbush.

Marr2014 Marr had a stellar freshman season for Morrisville State at first base and cleanup in the batting lineup, appearing in all 29 games for the Mustangs, while making 77 at bat appearances. She ranks third on the team in batting average (.364), posting a second team best 28 hits and 15 runs scored.

Her season total 18 RBI’s leads the young Mustangs squad. Four of her hits were doubles and six were triples, ranking third and first respectively in team standings. In the field, Marr posted 165 put outs and three assists for a .977 fielding percentage, ranking 16th overall in the conference in fielding, and fourth in put outs recorded. Her two triple hits rank 12th overall in NEAC standings, while ranking 20th in RBI’s, 12th in triples, and 24th in batting average.

Marr posted a single game best 3-for-3 performance from the plate against Wells College, recording three RBI’s and three runs scored behind a double and triple, and following that with a 2-for-3 performance with an RBI and two runs scored in the nightcap.

Marr is a graduate of Lindenhurst High and is majoring in liberal arts and science – math and science at Morrisville State.
