(Chittenango, NY – June 2014) “Kids of the Erie Canal” is the theme for this year at Canal Fest. Many family-friendly activities are planned for this event, including a Game Quest with five stations, wooden boat races on the feeder canal, a petting zoo, wagon rides, magicians and music.
There will be blacksmith demonstrations and boat building demonstrations.
All the buildings will be open for visitation, including the Bell Fargo exhibit and hands-on activities. Visit the recently redesigned boat shop. Chicken barbeque starts at noon until gone.
Raffle tickets for two Adirondack chairs will be sold at $1 each, seven for $5 or 15 for $10. There will also be door prizes awarded periodically. Admission donation is $6 for adults, $5 for members and children 12 and under are free. The museum is located at 717 Lakeport Road, Chittenango.
