(Syracuse, NY – June 2014) SUNY Chancellor Nancy Zimpher has named three Onondaga Community College students winners in the “Best of SUNY” Student Art Awards. The students were chosen by individual art departments across SUNY’s 64 campuses. Areas of competition included drawing, ceramics, painting, sculpture, photography, printmaking, mixed media, photography sculpture, and digitally produced works. The winning artwork is on display at the State Museum in Albany through August 31.

Onondaga’s three winners are:

·         Kathryn Griffin                   Sophomore    Holmes H.S.                      Edenton, NC

·         Skyla Hays-Taber               Freshman      Jamesville-Dewitt H.S.         Dewitt

·         John Jastremski                  Sophomore    Cicero-North Syracuse H.S.  Cicero

“We are deeply proud to have our Best of SUNY art exhibition on display at the New York State Museum again this year,” said Chancellor Zimpher. “Showcasing our top student works from the past year, this annual exhibit has become a must-see attraction for those who live in Albany as well as the museum’s many visitors from across the state and nation. Congratulations to all of this year’s contributors.”
