(Canastota, NY – Aug. 2014) The Canastota Canal Town Museum invites the public to its open house Sunday Aug. 10 from noon to 3 p.m.
Visit the museum at 122 Canal St. in downtown Canastota in celebrating the New York State Canal System and Erie Canalway National Corridor history, culture and recreational appeal.
Once a bakery and residence in the 19th century, the two floors of the museum offer a history of the Erie Canal and brings to life local folklore and history. Located next to the “Old Erie Canal,” the museum is filled with authentic memorabilia, art, and other exhibits illustrating the area’s contributions to the canal, commerce, industry and agriculture.
