Chittenango Landing Canal Boat Museum News
(Chittenango, NY – Aug. 2014) The Chittenango Landing Canal Boat Musem recently held its first photography contest, “Cameras on the Canal,” consisting of two themes: “Wondrous Waterways” and “Tranquility on the Towpath.”
Prizes were $100 for first place, $50 for second place and gift certificates for third and fourth places and honorable mention; also, the first prize winners’ photos were printed on 11-by-14-inch canvas and framed.
Other prize winners’ photos were printed on eight-by-10-inch and 5-by-7-inch canvas and framed.
Winners in the adult division were:
First place, Barbara Bushnell (Kirkville), “Autumn on the Towpath” [Tranquility on the Towpath]; second place, Mary Collins (Oswego), “Frog Prince”[Wondrous Waterways]; third place, Michael Black (Liverpool), “Reflections on the Erie Canal” [Wondrous Waterways]; fourth place, Dianne Murray (Chittenango), “Crossing the Bridge” and honorable mention: Denise Weatherly (Rome) “Aqueduct.”
Winners in the youth division were:
First place, Ally Shoemaker (Canastota), “Peaceful Paddling” [Wondrous Waterways]; and second place, Elizabeth Rolnick (Fayetteville), “Endless Green” [Tranquility on the Towpath].
The exhibit is available for viewing 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and continues until Aug. 22.
