(Herkimer County, NY – Aug. 2014) Herkimer County 4-H members have been busy this week at the Herkimer County Fair. Members have been participating in animal shows as well as doing demonstrations in the youth building. Rabbits, poultry, dairy cattle, beef cattle and goats have all been shown with 4-H members taking top honors in these youth animal shows.
In the youth building, some 4-H members have been “Reaching for the Stars and Beyond” by doing interactive astronomy projects with fair goers. Others have been doing cooking demonstrations making everything from greens to banana muffins to different types of pizza. Then offering up their tasty treats for those visiting the fair to try.
The Herkimer County Fair culminates the 4-H year for many members and is a showcase for them to display the projects they have worked so hard on all year.
For more information on this and other things that 4-H has to offer, please contact Cornell Cooperative Extension of Herkimer County at (315)866-7920 orj lr34@cornell.edu.
