(Utica, NY – Sept. 2014) The Annual COCVAC Health and Safety Expo is under a month away and members of Central Oneida Volunteer Ambulance Corps and local healthcare providers are gearing up for another successful year.   Running from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sept. 20, the Expo features educational information and fun activities for children and adults, the expo features a variety of free health and wellness screenings for cancer; blood pressure and blood sugar; balance and flexibility problems; and other health issues.

In addition to Oneida County Cancer Screening program, Bassett Healthcare’s Mobile Cancer Screening Coach will be at the event offering low cost/free mammograms, pap tests, and other cancer screenings to individuals with and without insurance.  Those interested in receiving a cancer screening during the event should call 315-798-5248 to schedule an appointment.

Representatives from Mercy Flight Central, St Elizabeth College of Nursing, the Oneida County Health Department and Office of the Aging, Walmart Optical, the Mohawk Valley Health Network, and many other organizations will also be conducting demonstrations and answering questions.

The Expo coincides with North Star Orchards popular “U-Pick Apples.”  In addition to apple picking, there will be wagon rides through the orchards and an assortment of fall produce and goods available for sale.
