Al Stirpe

(Sept. 2014) The New York League of Conservation Voters, which works to make environmental sustainability a top political and policy priority in New York State, has announced its endorsement of Al Stirpe for New York’s Assembly District 127.

Since being elected to the Assembly in 2007, Al Stirpe has been instrumental in improving recycling throughout his district. This year, he conducted two e-recycling events and collected five tractor-trailer loads of used electronics that would have otherwise gone into a landfill. Further, Stirpe is working with a group of investors to establish a Regional Paint Recycling Center for Upstate New York. In addition, Assemblymember Stirpe has supported the environmental community’s top priorities, including legislation to get polluting plastic beads out of consumer products; a bill to help protect children from toxic chemicals; and legislation to help our state prepare for a changing climate.

If re-elected, Stirpe has pledged to help grow the Environmental Protection Fund – which builds parks, protects drinking water and creates jobs – and expand the use of clean energy to reduce emissions while also growing Central New York’s economy.

“Central New York’s environment has a strong ally in Al Stirpe,” said Rhea Jezer, Central New York Board Representative, New York League of Conservation Voters. “Throughout his career in public service, Assemblymember Stirpe has made clean water, green jobs and a healthy environment top priorities. We are proud to endorse him for re-election, and we encourage voters who want a greener, cleaner Central New York to support Al Stirpe for Assembly.”

In response to the endorsement, Assemblymember Al Stirpe said: “Receiving the endorsement from the New York League of Conservation Voters – which works tirelessly to protect the environment, our health and the health of our children – demonstrates our shared values of advocating for clean water, air and energy throughout New York State. I look forward to continuing my partnership with NYLCV on important initiatives to enhance public health and preserve our state’s natural resources. One essential measure I helped pass is the Child Safe Products Act, which was among NYLCV’s top priorities, and would help protect kids from exposure to toxic chemicals by eliminating the use of dangerous chemicals in children’s products. I will continue to be a strong advocate as I work with NYLCV, not only to see the Child Safe Products Act signed into law, but also to ensure the health of our communities and the preservation of our environment for future generations.”
