Mad Co Sheriff's Dept(Brookfield, NY – Feb. 12, 2015) Madison County Sheriff’s Deputies are investigating a suspicious incident that took place late yesterday afternoon involving a 12 year old male.

The child’s mother reported that while her son was walking home from the Brookfield

Central School, a male driving a black Mercedes Benz 4-door sedan stopped next to the child, opened the passenger side door, and asked the child if he needed a ride. The child declined and at the same time, saw his mother approaching in her vehicle and told the driver that his mother was approaching. The male closed the door and sped away, heading northbound on Beaver Creek Road, toward the Oneida County line.

After the mother spoke with the child, she notified Sheriff’s deputies.

The driver of the black Mercedes Benz is described as a white male, 40 to 50 years of age with gray hair and appeared to be balding.

Madison County Sheriff’s Deputies issued an alert to other regional law enforcement agencies in Oneida, Chenango and Otsego Counties, as well as the NY State Police in those areas. A “be on the lookout” was issued to all Madison County law enforcement agencies with a description of the vehicle and the driver.

The Sheriff’s Office has been in contact with the Brookfield School Superintendent, who notified parents through a phone message using the school’s phone alert system.
