(Boonville, NY Feb.8 7, 2015) State police in Remsen investigated a Personal Injury accident involving a snowmobile Feb. 7.
50 year old John E. Malen, from Hunter was operating a snowmobile when he attempted to cross Hawkinsville Road and failed to yield the right of way.
Malen entered the eastbound lane into the path of a pick-up truck operated by 28-year-old Brett A. Czepiel of Boonville.
The truck was unable to avoid the snowmobile and struck it with the plow.
Malen was not wearing a helmet and was ejected off his snowmobile. Malen was transported to St. Elizabeth’s Hospital for a head injury and a broken right wrist.
Czepiel was not injured.
Malen is in stable condition and was issued tickets for Failed to yield crossing a highway and riding with no helmet.
