(April 2015) A Whitesboro student took First Place in the 2015 Congressional High School Art Competition, “An Artistic Discovery,” U.S. Representative Richard Hanna recently announced at Roberson Museum and Science Center.
Jamie Sharpe won the top prize for her work, “Charlie,” and it will hang in the tunnel to the U.S. Capitol for the entire year of the exhibition. Ms. Sharpe will also be invited to attend a luncheon in Washington, D.C. with other national winners. She placed in the Oneida County competition.
High school students from throughout the 22nd Congressional District who placed in their countywide art competition showcased their work Saturday at Roberson Museum and Science Center. A panel of judges selected First, Second and Third place winners.
The Second and Third place winners both attend Sherburne-Earlville Central School District, and represent two different counties. Megan Rodman, who placed in the Madison County competition, took Second Place for her work “Red.” David Miles, representing Chenango County, was named the Third Place winner for his work “Mythical Dragon.”
Rodman’s and Miles’ artwork will hang in Rep. Hanna’s district offices in Binghamton or Utica, whichever location is closest to the artist’s hometown.
