(Herkimer County, NY – May 2015) On Wednesday May 20 nearly 700 sixth grade youth from Herkimer County Schools participated in the annual 4-H Conservation Field Day held at the KOA Kampground in Middleville, sponsored by Cornell Cooperative Extension of Herkimer County.

Youth visited 14 different stations where they were taught about things ranging from Back Woods Safety to the Waste Water Treatment Process.  Each station they visited, they learned something that impacts our environment and what to do about it.

Presenters for the day included the NYS DEC Forest Rangers, Police, Lands & Forests & Fisheries; Herkimer County Soil & Water Conservation District; Herkimer Diamond Mines; West Canada Paddlers; NYS Office of Fire Prevention & Control; NYS Outdoorsmen; Herkimer County Sewer District; Oneida-Herkimer Solid Waste Authority and Mid-York Beekeepers.
