(Earlville, NY – June 2015) Martha Redbone brings her rocking, soulful blues and charismatic vocals to the Earlville Opera House on Saturday June 13 at 8 p.m.
Redbone has been a leader in a “new generation of independent artists who possess the creativity and freedom” to incorporate their heritage into the progression of popular music. Her rock and Rand B influences integrate “a strong undercurrent of Redbone’s Native American heritage.” 1 Her latest project, Garden of Love, with verses penned by 18th century English poet William Blake set to haunting Appalachian string band melodies was the Vox Pop winner of the 13th Annual Independent Music Awards for Best Concept Album. The Martha Redbone Roots Project is generously sponsored by Seven Oaks Clubhouse Restaurant and media sponsor WAER FM 88.3.
Redbone’s music flows equally from her own unique, award-winning blend of Native American elements with funk and her deep roots in Appalachian folk and Piedmont blues favored by the matriarchy that raised her on a rich sojourn from Clinch Mountain, Virginia to Harlan County, Kentucky and beyond to Brooklyn’s Dodge City-esque mean streets.
Independent Music Award-winner Redbone makes both a departure and a return to roots with this project, trading the wilder electric blues she’s become known for the subtle power of this culture- and continent-crossing exploration.
