(Herkimer County, NY – Aug. 2015) Thirty-nine Herkimer County 4-H members participated in the 68th Annual Farmers Museum Junior Livestock Show held in Cooperstown July 12 to 14. Participants included: Abigail and Owen Allen, Bo and Isaac Alesia, Autumn Borek, Hannah Carnright, Alissa and Chad Collins, Allison, Sam and Seth Donahoe, Joshua Douglas, Tyler Franklin, Natalie Fredericks, Brogan Graves, Markus Hammont, Austin Jones, Katie Livingston, Kassi March, Suzie Phillips, Broc, McCaylia and McKenzie Plungis, Abigail, Ethan and Katelyn Reed, Rose, Skye and Sophia Simmons, Edward and Isabella Smith, Denten and Madesen Spellman, Lawson Staring, Emily and Eric Vander Groef, Starr Wilt and Bryce and Kayla Windecker.
Top honors go to Katelyn Reed for being named Master Sheep Showman. Ethan Reed exhibited the Champion Ram and Champion Oxford sheep. In dairy cattle, Lawson Staring exhibited the Champion Lineback while Katie Livingston had the Reserve Champion Guernsey. Within the goats, Kassi March had the Champion Nubian, while Issac Alesia had the Reserve Champion and Bo Alesia had the Reserve Junior Champion of the same breed. Hannah Carnright exhibited the Reserve Champion Recorded Grade.
In total, more than 260 youth from nine counties exhibit more than 600 animals at this premier show held in Cooperstown each year.
